I’m Anna Burns.
Attending Trinity College Dublin and University College Cork, I completed a Masters of Nutrition Science in 1995. Believe it or not, in that time, the science of weight-loss has really not changed. The individuals I coached in 1995 had the same challenges as clients I coach today.
Over thirty years of one-to-one weight-loss coaching there is nothing I haven't heard, no diet I'm not familiar with, and no person in my experience who is beyond reach when it comes to achieving their weight-loss goals.
I value health, energy, vitality, not diets. With my approach, you will feel enlivened, invigorated and re-energized about your health. Eating lots, eating real, and eating socially means weight-loss will be a happy side-effect of my approach. My goal for you is not to just add years to your life, but life to your years!
I love good food. I do not roll my own protein balls however. Nor do you need to! I want you to eat three good meals every day, composed only of foods you love. If you do not like kale, I don't want you to eat it, juice it or disguise it in a smoothie. You can live a long and extraordinary life without it!
My method is backed by long-standing scientific evidence. I have written innumerable articles on the subject, as features writer for Irish New & Media. I have guested as panelist on The Late Late Show, hosted a nutrition slot on the Pat Kenny Show and guest periodically on Newstalk on such discussions. I love cooking as well as eating real food and chatting on TV shows such as Ireland AM, the Midweek & Midday Shows which have been the most fun!
I've lived through the eighties, (F-Plan diet!), the nineties (Sugar & Fat free era), noughties (think Atkins) and now (when protein seems to be the only show in town) and I understand your confusion. Is there any logic? Well actually the science of weight-loss is quite simple. I can teach it to you over the next few weeks. Once you learn it, you cannot unlearn it. I marry it with behavioral change methodologies that make up our psychology when changing any behavior. This means that this time the knowledge can stick, through experiential learning (aka "doing it").
