I may be optimistic, but I’m also a realist! I know that you have struggled with your weight for possibly decades. You could try another mad-cap diet. Perhaps a life-long injecting routine (surely the very last resort) or purchase some unique "science-backed" micro-nutrient that purports to be the latest elixir of youth (yeah, that will work!)
Will any of these change the number on the weighing scale, your clothes or your driver’s licence? No. They will just add to the number of times you set your self up for disappointment. Instead, let today be your last attempt at massaging your numbers and starving them into submission. Embrace the current numbers that define you. But this time stop letting them define you! Start instead to embrace them for the starting point that they are. They are a fabulously measurable starting point, from which you can pivot & turn this ship around from an inevitable decline. Not only can you redress your weighing scale number, the number on the clothes you wear. But did you realise you can reverse your metabolic age? You can go from age 55 to age 45, quite readily, by increasing muscle mass and decreasing fat mass. This is simply done if you embrace the journey.
